S32760 Introduction
Stainless steel grade F55 has excellent corrosion resistance to a wide range of areas, especially resistance to pitting adcrevice corrosion in seawater and other chloride containing environments, with critical pitting temperature that is more than 50°C(122°F). This material is known to also have high strength and extended lifecycle. It is 10% lighter than grade 316 steel, ideal for subzero service, and more cost effective than nickel alloys. Stainless steel grade F55 can be easily machined and welded. The following datasheet provides an overview of stainless steel grade F55.

1. Raw Material PreparationSelect high-quality carbon steel, stainless steel, or alloy steel billets; conduct chemical composition analysis and mechanical property testing to ensure compliance with standards (e.g., ASTM, ASME).
2. Cutting & Blank MakingCut the raw billets into fixed-length blanks using CNC cutting machines (plasma, flame, or band saw) to meet the required dimensions of the branch outlet.
3. ForgingHeat the blanks to the forging temperature (900-1250℃) and use a forging press to shape them into the basic structure of the branch outlet, ensuring uniform metal flow and no internal defects.
4. Machining- Use CNC lathes to machine the outer diameter, inner bore, and end faces to achieve precise dimensional tolerances.- Process the socket weld end (complying with ANSI B16.11) and the branch connection surface using milling or drilling machines.
5. Heat TreatmentPerform quenching and tempering to improve the hardness, toughness, and fatigue resistance of the product; conduct stress relief annealing if necessary to eliminate internal stresses from forging and machining.
6. Surface Treatment- For stainless steel: Carry out pickling and passivation to form a protective oxide film and enhance corrosion resistance.- For carbon steel/alloy steel: Perform galvanization or anti-rust painting to prevent oxidation.
7. Inspection & Testing- Dimensional inspection: Verify all dimensions (thread, socket, length) with calipers, thread gauges, and CMM.- Non-destructive testing (NDT): Use ultrasonic testing (UT) or magnetic particle testing (MT) to detect internal and surface defects.
- Pressure testing: Conduct hydrostatic testing at 1.5 times the rated pressure to ensure sealing performance.
8. Cleaning & PackagingClean the finished products to remove oil, debris, and rust; package them in wooden cases with anti-rust paper or foam to avoid damage during transportation.
