S304 Introduction
Type 304L is a low-carbon version of 304 stainless steel. It is used for heavy-duty components to improve weldability. Some products, such as steel plates and pipes, may be "dual-certified" materials, meeting both 304 and 304L standards.304 stainless steel exhibits excellent corrosion resistance in a variety of environments and when exposed to different corrosive media. In environments containing chlorides, pitting and crevice corrosion may occur. Stress corrosion cracking can occur at temperatures exceeding 60°C.304 stainless steel has good oxidation resistance in intermittent use, withstanding temperatures up to 870°C, and 925°C in continuous use. However, continuous use at 425-860°C is not recommended if water corrosion resistance is required. In such cases, 304L is recommended due to its resistance to carbide deposition.For applications requiring high strength at temperatures exceeding 500°C, up to 800°C, grade 304H is recommended. 1. Raw Material Preparation and Inspection
- Select stainless steel plates or strips of specified grades (e.g., 304, 316) that meet thickness requirements
- Conduct surface defect inspection and material composition verification to exclude unqualified raw materials
2. Blanking and Cutting
- Use CNC cutting machines or stamping dies to cut stainless steel plates into circular blanks of fixed sizes
- Ensure the diameter tolerance of blanks meets the design standard to guarantee the final sphere size
3. Hemispherical Forming
- Put the circular blanks into a stamping mold, and use a hydraulic press to perform deep drawing to form hemispherical workpieces
- Trim the edge of the hemispheres to ensure the consistency of the connecting edges
4. Welding and Sealing
- Butt-joint the two hemispheres accurately, and adopt argon arc welding (TIG) to weld the joint seam - Polish the welding seam to make the surface smooth and consistent with the overall sphere shape
5. Heat Treatment and Stress Relief
- Put the welded hollow spheres into a heat treatment furnace for annealing treatment
- Eliminate the internal stress generated during stamping and welding, and improve the structural stability of the product
6. Surface Finishing
- Carry out surface treatment processes such as polishing, sandblasting or pickling passivation according to customer requirements
- Remove surface oxides, burrs and welding marks to enhance corrosion resistance and appearance quality
7. Quality Inspection
- Inspect the outer diameter, wall thickness uniformity and roundness of the hollow spheres
- Conduct pressure testing or leak detection for spheres used in pressure-bearing scenarios; check surface finish and defect conditions
8. Cleaning and Packaging
- Clean the finished spheres with a neutral cleaning agent to remove surface impurities
- Package the qualified products with anti-scratch films and put them into storage for delivery
