Slip-on flanges are primarily manufactured through forging, steel cutting, or casting, with forging offering the best quality and most common, low-cost solution for low-pressure applications. The production process includes forging/cutting, heating, shaping, heat treatment, machining (drilling/facing), and finishing. These flanges feature a hub, have a lower price point, and are welded both inside and outside.Key Production Processes
* Material Selection and Preparation: High-quality raw materials (carbon steel, stainless steel, or alloy steel) are selected, and often undergo ultrasonic testing to check for defects like delamination before processing.
* Forming/Forging: The steel is heated and molded using forging techniques (mold forming) to produce the desired shape, which provides better structural integrity than casting.
* Machining: After forging, the blank is processed using CNC machines for precise dimensions, including the bore, outer diameter, and hub profile.
* Drilling: Bolt holes are precisely drilled according to relevant standards (e.g., ASME B16.5).
* Finishing: The flange faces are machined (e.g., raised face, 1/16″ or 1/4″ height).
* Heat Treatment: Heat treatment is applied to strengthen the material.
* Inspection & Marking: Final products are inspected for quality (surface, dimensions) and marked with grade, size, and traceability numbers.
