S904 Introduction
Grade 904L stainless steel is a non-stabilized austenitic stainless steel with low carbon content. This high alloy stainless steel is added with copper to improve its resistance to strong reducing acids, such as sulphuric acid. The steel is also resistant to stress corrosion cracking and crevice corrosion. Grade 904L is non-magnetic, and offers excellent formability, toughness and weldability. Grade 904L contains high amounts of expensive ingredients, such as molybdenum and nickel. Today, most of the applications that employ grade 904L are replaced by low-cost duplex stainless steel 2205.
Hexagonal Nut Introduction
The hexagonal nut is a common fastener, named so because of its regular hexagonal shape. Features: The hexagonal structure enables it to be tightened gradually by merely rotating 60° at a time, making it particularly advantageous for operation in confined spaces. Moreover, the edges and the contact surface with the wrench are well-proportioned, making it less likely to slip off. Additionally, the hexagonal design saves more material during processing compared to quadrilateral designs, and it has a larger size and higher strength for the same specification. Type: It can be classified into three types based on nominal thickness: Type I, Type II, and thin type. Type I hexagonal nuts are the most widely used. Type C is used in rough-surfaced and low-precision applications, while Type A and Type B are used in smooth-surfaced and high-precision areas. Type II hexagonal nuts are thicker and are mostly used in frequently disassembled and reassembled situations. Thin hexagonal nuts are thinner and are suitable for situations where the surface space of the connected components is limited. Standards: Common standards include the Chinese national standard GB, the American national standard ANSI, and the German national standard DIN, among others. For example, GB/T6170-2000 stipulates the size, material, and other requirements for Type I hexagonal nuts, and DIN934 is the standard for hexagonal nuts in the German system. To enhance corrosion resistance and appearance, surface treatments such as galvanization, chrome plating, and hot-dip galvanizing can be carried out. Application fields: It is widely used in engineering construction, mechanical equipment, automotive manufacturing, shipbuilding, and aerospace industries, for connecting and fixing various components.
