S304 Introduction
Type 304L is a low-carbon version of 304 stainless steel. It is used for heavy-duty components to improve weldability. Some products, such as steel plates and pipes, may be "dual-certified" materials, meeting both 304 and 304L standards. 304 stainless steel exhibits excellent corrosion resistance in a variety of environments and when exposed to different corrosive media. In environments containing chlorides, pitting and crevice corrosion may occur. Stress corrosion cracking can occur at temperatures exceeding 60°C. 304 stainless steel has good oxidation resistance in intermittent use, withstanding temperatures up to 870°C, and 925°C in continuous use. However, continuous use at 425-860°C is not recommended if water corrosion resistance is required. In such cases, 304L is recommended due to its resistance to carbide deposition. For applications requiring high strength at temperatures exceeding 500°C, up to 800°C, grade 304H is recommended. This material will retain its water corrosion resistance.
Pipe nipples Introduction
Pipe nipples are sometimes referred to as barrel nipples which unless otherwise stated, are tapered NPT threaded at each end with an unthreaded section in the middle. Nipples that are threaded on both ends are commonly referred to as T.B.E which stands fo threaded both ends. When looking at the lengths of the nipple, the length is specified by the overall
length including the threads.

1. Raw Material Preparation and Inspection
- Select seamless steel pipes or round steel billets that meet the material grade requirements (e.g., carbon steel, stainless steel)
- Conduct chemical composition analysis, mechanical property testing and surface defect inspection to eliminate unqualified raw materials .

2. Cutting and Blank Making
- Cut the raw materials into fixed-length blanks according to the design size of the nipple using a pipe cutting machine or band saw
- Remove burrs and sharp edges at the cutting ports to avoid affecting subsequent processing

3. Machining of Outer Diameter and Length
- Fix the blank on a CNC lathe or ordinary lathe
- Perform turning processing to ensure the outer diameter tolerance and overall length of the nipple meet the drawing standards

4. Thread Machining
- Adopt thread turning, thread rolling or tapping process to machine external threads at both ends of the nipple
- Ensure thread pitch, tooth shape and thread length conform to the specified standards (e.g.,NPT, BSP, metric thread)
- Check thread accuracy with thread gauges to avoid thread mismatch

5. Heat Treatment (If Required)
-Carry out quenching and tempering or annealing treatment according to the material and application requirements
- Eliminate the internal stress generated during machining and improve the hardness and toughness of the product

6. Surface Treatment
- Clean the inner and outer surfaces of the nipple to remove oil stains, iron filings and cutting fluid residues
- Conduct anti-corrosion treatment such as galvanizing, passivation, painting or pickling according to customer requirements

7. Quality Inspection
-Inspect the overall dimensions, thread accuracy, surface quality and appearance of the nipple
- Conduct pressure testing or leak testing for nipples used in high-pressure pipeline systems

8. Marking and Packaging
- Mark product model, material grade, thread specification and batch number on the surface .
-Package the qualified products with anti-rust paper or plastic bags, and put them into cartons or wooden cases for storage and delivery
