S32760 Introduction
Stainless steel grade F55 has excellent corrosion resistance to a wide range of areas, especially resistance to pitting andcrevice corrosion in seawater and other chloride containing environments, with critical pitting temperature that is more than 50°C(122°F). This material is known to also have high strength and extended lifecycle. It is 10% lighter than grade 316 steel,ideal for sub-zero service, and more cost effective than nickel alloys. Stainless steel grade F55 can be easily machined and welded. The following datasheet provides an overview of stainless steel grade F55.
Spectacle Blind Flange Introduction
A Spectacle Blind Flange is used in piping systems to seal and support the pipeline, usually between two connecting parts. It consists of an upper part (i.e., spectacle blinds) with two circular discs mounted on each other that can be separated or bolted together. The lower part contains a ring that fits into the opening in the first component to complete the connection between both components. Spectacle Blind Flanges are designed for use in hazardous areas with a risk of potential explosions, enabling any pressure build-up to be contained within the pipe system quickly and safely. 1. Raw Material Selection & Cutting
Select qualified carbon steel (e.g., A105), stainless steel (e.g., 304, 316) or alloy steel as raw materials based on service conditions like pressure and corrosion. Cut the bar or ingot into blanks of specified size via sawing or flame cutting, with a proper allowance reserved for subsequent processing.
2. Blank Heating
Put the blanks into a gas furnace or electric induction furnace and heat them to 1100 - 1250°C. Strictly control the heating temperature to avoid problems such as oxidation, decarburization or overheating, so as to guarantee the plasticity of the blanks for forging.
3. Forging Forming
For mass production, die forging is usually adopted. First, pre-forge the heated blank to initially shape it and remove oxide
scale. Then perform final forging in a closed die to precisely form the figure 8 structure, ensuring the consistency of its disc surface and convex platform dimensions. For small-batch or large-sized products, free forging with a hydraulic press can be used to shape the blank step by step.

4. Heat Treatment
Conduct heat treatment based on the material. Normalizing or annealing is generally used to eliminate forging stress and refine grain structure. Alloy steel flanges may undergo quenching and tempering to
enhance hardness and toughness, while stainless steel flanges adopt solution treatment to improve corrosion resistance. 5.Precision Machining

Use CNC lathes to finish-machine the sealing surface, outer circle and plane of the flange. Then precisely drill bolt holes according to standards such as ANSI and DIN, ensuring the hole pitch meets assembly requirements. Finally, remove burrs from the machined surface.
6. Surface Finishing
Adopt sandblasting to remove oxide scale on the flange surface. For carbon steel flanges, apply anti-rust coatings like galvanizing or painting; for stainless steel flanges, perform polishing to improve surface smoothness and corrosion resistance.
7. Inspection & Testing
Check dimensions like outer diameter, thickness and hole pitch with calipers and coordinate measuring machines. Conduct non-destructive testing, including ultrasonic testing (UT) for internal defects and magnetic particle testing (MT) or penetrant testing (PT) for surface cracks.
8. Marking & Packaging
Stamp marks such as material grade, specification, pressure class (e.g., PN16, Class150) and production batch on the flange. Apply anti-rust oil to the finished product and package it with wooden boxes or pallets to avoid damage during transportation.
