Incoloy Alloy 840 Introduction
Incoloy alloy 840 is a high temperature alloy designed for exceptional performance in extreme environments. Engineers classify it as an austenitic stainless steel, but its unique blend of nickel, chromium, and iron sets it apart from standard stainless steels. The alloy’s composition includes significant amounts of nickel (19–22%) and chromium (19.5–21%), with smaller additions of titanium, silicon, manganese, and carbon. This precise formulation gives incoloy alloy 840 its remarkable resistance to oxidation and corrosion, even when exposed to temperatures near 1000°C.The technical literature highlights several key properties that make incoloy 840 a preferred choice for demanding applications. The alloy demonstrates a tensile strength ranging from 500 to 880 MPa and a yield strength between 210 and 550 MPa. Its elongation can reach up to 30%, which means it maintains ductility under stress. The density of incoloy 840 is approximately 8.5 g/cm³, and it offers a thermal conductivity of about 25 W/m·K. These characteristics ensure that the alloy performs reliably in both mechanical and thermal applications.
Incoloy Alloy 840 Plate Introduction
Incoloy 840 Sheet & Plates are stainless steel, titanium, and aluminum content plates and also it contains chromium that ensures to form and sustain an adequate level of chromium oxide. These sheet and plates generate superior corrosion resistance to chloride and oxidation resistance at high elevated temperature.
These 840 grades of sheet and plates are ideal for the heat affected region as well as in harsh environmental conditions. The plates having good weldability that no cracking arises at the time of bending.
