Incoloy 840 Introduction
Incoloy alloy 840 is a high temperature alloy designed for exceptional performance in extreme environments. Engineers classify it as an austenitic stainless steel, but its unique blend of nickel, chromium, and iron sets it apart from standard stainless steels. The alloy’s composition includes significant amounts of nickel (19–22%) and chromium (19.5–21%), with smaller additions of titanium, silicon, manganese, and carbon. This precise formulation gives incoloy alloy 840 its remarkable resistance to oxidation and corrosion, even when exposed to temperatures near 1000°C.
