600 A36 can be performed using all traditional industrial joining processes, including SMAW,GMAW, SAW, GTAW, etc. It has extremely excellent weldability, no preheating is required for conventional thickness plates under normal room temperature, and no complex post-weld heat treatment is required for most general applications. Recommended filler metal should match the strength of the base metal, commonly used AWS E6013, E7018 or ER70S-6. Caution should be taken for thick-section components in low-temperature environments, appropriate preheating and slow cooling measures are recommended to avoid cold cracking.

Final stress relief annealing process performed for several of the applications, is done at 595-650°C (1100-1200°F), which is followed by air cooling. Normalizing process for homogenizing structure and optimizing mechanical properties can be done at 870-925°C (1600-1700°F), followed by air cooling. 1. Material Selection & Preparation
Most reducing ferrules are made from Carbon Steel (12L14 or 1020) or Stainless Steel (304/316). The process starts with either:
Seamless Tubing: Used for smaller batches or complex reductions.
Solid Bar Stock: Used for high-precision CNC work.
Wire/Coils: Used for high-volume cold heading.

2. Primary Forming
Depending on the production volume, one of two methods is used:
Cold Heading (High Volume): A machine strikes the metal at room temperature, forcing it into a die. This is the most efficient
way to create the "stepped" or "reducing" shape and improves the grain structure of the metal.
CNC Machining (High Precision): A lathe turns the part to create the precise outer diameter (OD) and inner diameter (ID) steps.
This is preferred for custom sizes or heavy-duty industrial ferrules.
3. Internal Grooving (Serration)
The inside of the ferrule is not smooth. It must be machined with annular grooves or teeth.
Purpose: When the ferrule is crimped, these teeth "bite" into the outer cover of the hose to prevent blow-outs.
Reduction Step: In a reducing ferrule, these grooves must be carefully tapered or stepped to match the specific hose-to-fitting transition.
