Alloy 625 introduction
Super alloys are also referred to as high performance alloys. They can function at high temperatures and mechanical stress, and are formed in different shapes. They are strengthened by work hardening, solid-solution hardening, and precipitation hardening.There are three groups of alloys, namely cobalt-based, nickel-based, and iron-based super alloys.Altemp 625™ is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum wrought alloy. It has an ability to withstand stress-corrosion cracking and intergranular attack. The following sections with discuss about Altemp 625™ in detail.
Socket Welding Cross Introduction
A socket-weld cross is a forged high-pressure fitting featuring socket-style connections in all four directions; steel pipes are inserted into the sockets and secured with fillet welds, enabling the perpendicular intersection, splitting, or merging of four pipeline paths. Being forged as a single, integral unit, it offers significantly higher strength than cast crosses.The steel pipe is inserted into the socket of the fitting, leaving a gap of 1.5–2 mm between the pipe end and the socket bottom, and a circumferential weld is applied between the outer wall of the pipe and the face of the socket; the weld is of the fillet type—providing sealing, vibration resistance, and pressure resistance—and is commonly used for small-diameter, high-pressure pipelines.

1.Raw Material Procurement and Inspection: Manufacturers at the source establish rigorous inspection mechanisms for raw material acceptance, conducting compositional analysis and performance verification on every incoming batch of steel and alloy materials to ensure quality meets production standards.
2.Forging and Forming: Two common processes are used to manufacture socket-weld crosses from seamless pipe: hydraulic bulging and hot-press forming. Hydraulic bulging is a forming process in which the branch outlet is expanded through the axial compensation of the metal material. Hot-press forming involves flattening a tubular blank with a diameter larger than that of the finished cross, cutting an opening at the location of the branch outlet, heating the blank, placing it into a forming die, inserting a punch die into the blank to form the branch, and shaping the branch outlet under pressure.
3.Welding: During the installation of a socket-weld cross, the fitting must be inserted into the socket end of the pipe and tightened with a wrench; finally, the connection point is welded to ensure a complete seal and prevent leakage.
4.Testing and Inspection: Every high-pressure pressure-bearing product undergoes multiple rounds of testing prior to leaving the factory to ensure the absence of issues such as weld defects or uneven wall thickness, thereby guaranteeing the product's safety and reliability.
