Stainless steel 304 introduction
Stainless steel is an alloy steel based on iron and chromium, supplemented with alloying elements such as nickel, molybdenum, and manganese. The core principle is that chromium in the steel combines with oxygen to form a dense, stable chromium oxide passivation film on the material surface, isolating it from air and moisture and preventing the steel from rusting and corroding.304 stainless steel is an austenitic stainless steel and is the most widely used general-purpose stainless steel material.

Wire thread insert (also called helical insert, screw thread insert) is a coiled spring-like fastener made of stainless steel
alloy wire. It is screwed into pre-drilled tapped holes to form high-precision, durable internal threads inside soft base
materials.Fix stripped, damaged, worn or broken internal threads on aluminum, magnesium, plastic, cast iron and other weak substrates, avoid scrapping expensive workpieces.Greatly improve the tensile strength, shear strength and load-bearing capacity of soft material threads, prevent thread slipping under vibration and heavy load.

Wire Thread Insert Product Processing
1.Raw Material Preparation:We adopt high-grade stainless steel wire (304 / 316 stainless steel as mainstream material, carbon steel for heavy-duty customized orders).Raw wire undergoes strict incoming inspection for diameter tolerance, surface smoothness and material composition to guarantee consistent mechanical performance of finished inserts.
2. Cold Wire Drawing:The round steel wire is processed by multi-pass cold drawing to improve tensile strength, dimensional uniformity and surface finish, laying a stable foundation for subsequent rolling and coiling.
3. Diamond Cross-Section Wire Rolling:Round wire is rolled into standard rhombus (diamond) cross-section by precision rolling machines.The diamond profile ensures larger contact area, uniform force distribution and better locking effect after being wound intohelical coils.
4. Automatic Helical Coiling:Formed diamond wire is fed into CNC coiling equipment, tightly wound around a precision mandrel according to preset pitch, inner diameter and total turns.Three core types are shaped in this step: D type: Standard single-tang free-running insert.DT type: Double tang reinforced insert K type: Self-locking insert with locking loop for anti-vibration.
5. Cutting, Tang Forming & Deburring:Continuous coiled strips are cut into individual inserts by laser or high-speed cutting tools per required length (0.5D / 1D /2D / 3D etc.);Installation tangs are stamped on one end for screwing during assembly;Vibration grinding removes tiny burrs on cutting edges to avoid scratching tapped holes during installation.
6. Stress Relief Heat Treatment (Optional):For stainless steel inserts, low-temperature annealing is applied to eliminate internal residual stress generated in cold forming,preventing deformation and stabilizing thread dimensional accuracy.
High-strength carbon steel versions will go through quenching and tempering for enhanced hardness and fatigue resistance.
7. Surface Passivation & Finishing:Stainless steel wire thread inserts are treated with chemical passivation to form a dense protective film on the surface, greatly improving oxidation and corrosion resistance in humid, acid and alkali working environments.Custom surface treatments such as zinc plating, nickel plating and PTFE coating are available upon customer requests.
8. Full Dimensional & Performance Inspection:Dimensional check: Thread pitch, inner/outer diameter, length and tang size measured by micrometers and thread gauges;Functional test: Locking torque test for K self-locking inserts, pull-out resistance test;Visual inspection: Surface defects, cracks and burrs screening one by one.
9. Cleaning, Drying & Packaging:Qualified products are ultrasonically cleaned to remove oil and metal debris, fully dried, sorted by specifications, then packed in plastic boxes or sealed bags with size labels for shipment.
