Product Description
A36 Introduction
ASTM A36 is the most commonly used mild and hot-rolled steel. It has excellent welding properties and is suitable for grinding, punching, tapping, drilling and machining processes. Yield strength of ASTM A36 is less than that of cold roll C1018, thus enabling ASTM A36 to bend more readily than C1018. Normally, larger diameters in ASTM A36 are not produced since C1018 hot roll rounds are used.Threaded Union Introduction
This cast threaded union is an economical three‑piece detachable pipe fitting made of ASTM A36 carbon‑steel, designed for general low‑pressure piping systems below 300LB. It consists of two end pieces and a hexagonal coupling nut, produced by sand casting technology, which cuts down production cost compared with forged unions for non‑high‑pressure working scenarios.
The union allows easy pipeline disassembly without cutting or rotating adjacent pipes, greatly facilitating routine inspection, maintenance and component replacement. Its spherical sealing face and precision‑machined threads (NPT, BSPT, BSPP optional) provide reliable leak‑proof connection. ASTM A36 material delivers good machinability, ductility and cost advantages, perfectly suited for water supply, drainage, ventilation and light‑industry fluid transmission.
Available sizes cover 1/8'' to 4''. Surface treatments including anti‑rust oil, black finish and hot‑dip galvanizing are offered
against corrosion. Visual inspection and dimensional testing are carried out after production to control common casting defects like pores and sand holes. Custom specifications can be supplied to satisfy various low‑pressure project requirements.

1.Raw Material Inspection & Melting
Qualified ASTM A36 carbon‑steel raw materials are selected first. We test chemical composition to make sure all elements comply with A36 specification. Surface rust, oil and impurities are fully cleaned before smelting. This step lays a solid foundation for low‑pressure usage under 300LB, reducing the risk of material‑related defects such as cracks and porosity.
2.Sand Casting Forming
Sand casting process is adopted to produce three separate blanks: two union ends and one hexagonal nut. Molten steel is poured into precision‑made moulds under stable temperature parameters. After natural cooling and solidification, cast blanks are demoulded. Runners, risers and flash burrs are cut off, and initial surface cleaning is done to remove sticking sand.
3.Stress‑Relief Treatment & Surface Pre‑treatment
Cast blanks go through stress‑relief annealing to eliminate internal stress generated during casting, preventing workpiece
deformation in subsequent machining. Sand‑blasting is carried out to remove oxide skin, casting scale and surface impurities, obtaining a clean, uniform base surface for turning and threading.
4.Precision Machining & Sealing Surface Processing
CNC lathe machining is performed for outer contour, hexagon and bore size. Spherical sealing faces are finely machined to guarantee good metal‑to‑metal sealing effect. Internal and external threads are cut strictly per NPT, BSPT or BSPP standards, and thread tolerance is tightly controlled for smooth assembly.
5.Surface Treatment, Full Inspection & Warehousing
Optional anti‑rust oil, black finish or hot‑dip galvanizing is applied for anti‑corrosion protection. Each component is inspected for pores, sand holes, dimensional accuracy and thread quality. Finished unions are assembled and trial‑fitted. Qualified products are delivered to the finished‑goods warehouse before packaging.
