The raw material is C28000 brass solid round bar. Upon delivery, we implement strict incoming inspection procedures. Spectrometer testing is performed to verify chemical composition matches C28000 brass specification. Hardness and tensile tests are conducted to confirm mechanical properties meet requirements. We visually inspect the rod surface for cracks, inclusions, pits and deep scratches, and measure diameter, roundness and straightness. Any non-conforming stock will be clearly marked, isolated and returned to the supplier to prevent mixing into production batches.
2.Saw Cutting:
Qualified brass rods are fed into a band saw machine to be cut into individual cylindrical blanks, with sufficient machining allowance reserved for subsequent turning processes. Cut end faces are deburred to eliminate sharp edges. Blanks are sorted and stacked on soft storage trays to avoid collision, abrasion and surface damage before machining.
3.CNC Lathe Rough Machining:
The brass blank is securely clamped on the CNC lathe chuck. Rough turning is performed on the outer diameter, central hexagonal clamping section and the barb areas on both ends. Uniform finishing allowance is retained on all functional surfaces. This step removes most excess material, casting skin and major burrs. After rough turning, chips and cutting fluid residues are fully cleared from the workpiece.
4.CNC Finishing & Barb Profile Machining:
The workpiece is repositioned for precision finishing following engineering drawings. The central hexagonal portion is machined to accurate flat dimensions for stable wrench engagement. Dual-end stepped barb profiles are precisely formed, with tight control over barb height, taper angle and spacing, to achieve firm hose grip, anti-pull-off and reliable sealing performance. Fine edge deburring is applied on each barb ridge to avoid cutting the inner wall of rubber or plastic hoses during assembly.
5.Ultrasonic Cleaning & Full Inspection:
Machined nipples are placed in an ultrasonic cleaning tank with alkaline cleaning solution to remove cutting oil, fine brass chips and surface contaminants. Workpieces are rinsed with clean water and thoroughly air-dried in a dust-free zone. 100% inspection is carried out: dimensional check with calipers and micrometers, profile verification of barbs, visual check for burrs, scratches, deformation and surface flaws.
6.Anti-oxidation Treatment & Final Packaging:
Approved parts can undergo passivation treatment optionally to slow brass tarnishing. Parts are packed in batches as customer requirements. Desiccant packets are added inside packaging bags or boxes to isolate moisture and prevent oxidation and discoloration. Each package is labelled with part number, material grade C28000, production batch and inspection mark, then sealed properly for storage and shipment.
