Alloy C22 Plate boasts exceptional resistance to both uniform and localized corrosion, such as pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking, especially in harsh media including sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid, chlorine-containing solutions, and mixed acids, thanks to its balanced composition with high chromium and molybdenum content plus tungsten addition which enhances resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, while the low carbon content minimizes carbide precipitation during welding to maintain corrosion resistance in the heat-affected zone. It has good weldability, formability, and machinability, allowing for the fabrication of complex components, and it retains good mechanical strength and ductility over a wide temperature range, with the ability to operate at temperatures up to 1093°C in oxidizing atmospheres and perform reliably in cryogenic conditions.
