* Material Selection: Socket weld caps are forged from special stainless steell (e.g.UNS S13800）depending on the requirement for corrosion resistance and strength.
* Forging Process: The raw material (billet) is heated and forged (impacted) to shape, creating a compact microstructure with superior mechanical properties compared to casting.
* Machining: The forged, rough product is machined to precise dimensions to create the "socket" area where the pipe is inserted, including accurate sizing for 3000lb, 6000lb, or 9000lb pressure classes.
* Heat Treatment: Heat treatment is applied to improve the microstructure, grain structure, and mechanical integrity.
* Surface Treatment: Surface treatments are applied to protect against rust and improve durability, especially for carbon steel,such as pickling, anti-rust oil, or galvanizing.
* Quality Inspection & Testing: Final products undergo rigorous testing, including: * Dimensional Inspection: Ensuring compliance with ASME B16.11.
* Pressure/Hydrostatic Testing: Ensuring leak-free operation.
* Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): Such as Dye Penetrant Test or X-ray tests for internal defects.
