1. Raw Material Preparation (Wire Drawing): The process begins with large coils of steel rod (typically 5.5 to 12 mm in diameter). The material is drawn through dies to achieve the required, precise diameter and improve tensile strength.
2. Cutting to Length: The straightened rod is cut to the specific, required length for the U-bolt before bending.
3. Bending and Forming: The cut rods are fed into a hydraulic bending machine, which forms the rods into the characteristic "U" shape. This ensures precise, symmetrical shaping.
4. Threading the Ends: Threading, often done via cold thread rolling, is added to both ends of the bolt, allowing for secure fastening with nuts. Thread rolling is preferred as it increases strength by compressing the material rather than cutting it.
5. Heat Treatment (Quenching & Tempering): The shaped U-bolts undergo heat treatment to enhance mechanical properties, such as increasing hardness and reducing brittleness.
