S32760 Introduction
Stainless steel grade F55 has excellent corrosion resistance to a wide range of areas, especially resistance to pitting and
crevice corrosion in seawater and other chloride containing environments, with critical pitting temperature that is more than 50°C
(122°F). This material is known to also have high strength and extended lifecycle. It is 10% lighter than grade 316 steel, ideal
for sub-zero service, and more cost effective than nickel alloys. Stainless steel grade F55 can be easily machined and welded. The
following datasheet provides an overview of stainless steel grade F55.

1. Raw Material PreparationSelect high-quality carbon steel, stainless steel, or alloy steel pipes that meet ASTM/ANSI/GB standards; conduct chemical composition and mechanical property testing to ensure material qualification.
2. Cutting & BevelingCut the raw pipes into fixed-length blanks using CNC cutting machines; process the pipe ends into specified bevel angles for subsequent welding, ensuring dimensional accuracy.
3. HeatingHeat the blanks to the forming temperature (800-1200℃ based on material type) in a controlled furnace, maintaining uniform temperature distribution to avoid material damage.
4. Bending FormingUse hydraulic or mechanical bending equipment to shape the heated blanks into elbow angles (e.g., 45°, 90°, 180°) with a mandrel to prevent inner wall wrinkling or outer wall thinning.
5. Heat TreatmentPerform annealing/normalizing heat treatment to eliminate internal stresses, improve material toughness, and ensure consistent mechanical properties.
6. MachiningPrecision-machine the socket ends (including socket depth, inner diameter, and surface finish) using CNC lathes to meet socket weld fitting dimensional standards (e.g., ASME B16.11).
7. Surface TreatmentExecute sandblasting, pickling, passivation, or galvanizing based on application requirements to enhance corrosion resistance and surface aesthetics.
8. Inspection & Testing- Visual inspection: Check for surface defects (cracks, scratches, unevenness).- Dimensional inspection: Verify outer diameter, wall thickness, angle, and socket dimensions with calipers, micrometers, and angle gauges.- Non-destructive testing (NDT): Conduct ultrasonic testing (UT) or radiography testing (RT) to detect internal defects.- Pressure testing: Perform hydrostatic/pneumatic testing to ensure leak tightness.
9. Cleaning & PackagingClean the finished elbows to remove debris; package with anti-corrosion materials (e.g., plastic film, wooden crates) for safe transportation and storage.
