S314 Introduction
Stainless steel 314 is an American standard heat-resistant steel material, also known as SUS314, and its Japanese name is austenitic heat-resistant stainless steel. The specific chemical composition of this material is 0Cr25Ni20Si2, or 06Cr25Ni20Si2, and it is commonly referred to as heat-resistant stainless steel, including 1Cr25Ni20Si2 heat-resistant steel. 314 stainless steel exhibits high temperature strength and oxidation resistance, while also possessing good creep resistance. This material is relatively sensitive to sulfur-containing environments and may exhibit a tendency for embrittlement due to precipitated phases between 600 and 800 degrees Celsius. 1. Raw Material Preparation: Select high-quality carbon steel (e.g., 4.8-grade Q235), alloy steel (e.g., 8.8-grade 45# steel), or stainless steel (e.g., 304, 316) wire rods that meet standards like ISO 898-1. Conduct inspections on chemical composition, mechanical properties, and surface quality to ensure raw material qualification.
2. Wire Drawing: Use wire drawing machines to draw the wire rods through dies of different specifications, reducing their diameter to the required size and improving surface finish and dimensional accuracy.
3. Heading (Cold Forging): Feed the drawn wire into a cold heading machine to form the hexagonal head and shank in one or more steps. Cold forging enhances metal density, strength, and surface quality without changing the material's chemical composition.
4. Thread Rolling: Use thread rolling machines to form external threads on the shank of the headed bolts. This process improves thread strength, wear resistance, and production efficiency compared to cutting threads.
5. Heat Treatment: Perform quenching and tempering processes on the bolts to achieve the required mechanical properties (e.g., hardness, tensile strength). For example, 8.8-grade bolts are quenched at 830-860℃ and tempered at 420-500℃.
6. Surface Treatment: Conduct anti-corrosion treatments based on application needs, such as galvanizing (hot-dip or electro-galvanizing), chrome plating, nickel plating, or phosphatizing. Stainless steel bolts may undergo passivation to enhance corrosion resistance.
7. Inspection: Carry out comprehensive quality inspections, including dimensional inspection (using calipers, thread gauges), mechanical property testing (tensile, hardness tests), surface defect inspection (visual or magnetic particle testing), and thread accuracy verification.
8. Packaging and Storage: Pack qualified bolts in moisture-proof packaging (e.g., plastic bags, cartons) with labels indicating specifications, grades, and batch numbers. Store them in a dry, well-ventilated warehouse to prevent corrosion and damage.
