Monel 400 Introduction
Monel 400 alloy (UNS N04400/MCu-28-1.5-1.8/Ni68Cu28Fe) is a nickel-based alloy, primarily composed of nickel-copper alloy, with a melting point of 1300-1350°C. It exhibits good corrosion resistance in corrosive media such as seawater, hydrofluoric acid, and sulfuric acid. This alloy demonstrates stable mechanical properties and is suitable for working environments ranging from low to high temperatures. Welding can be performed using TIG, MIG, and manual arc welding, matched with Monel body material or EniCu-7 welding consumables. This alloy is mainly used in the manufacture of heat exchange equipment, chemical pipelines, reaction vessels, and other devices, conforming to standards including ASTM B 164 (bars) and ASTM B 127 (plates). During machining,shrinkage allowance must be allowed to ensure dimensional accuracy. 1. Raw Material Preparation and Inspection Select round steel or seamless steel pipe that meets the design and industry standards, conduct chemical composition analysis and mechanical property testing, and verify the material certificate to ensure raw material qualification.
2. Blank Cutting Adopt band sawing or CNC cutting equipment to cut the raw material into blanks of preset dimensions, and remove the burrs, oxide scales and sharp edges at the cutting section.
3. Heating and Forging Heat the blank to the optimal forging temperature in a heating furnace, then form the preliminary shape of the socket weld branch outlet through forging processes like upsetting, piercing and shaping, to ensure the compactness of the internal structure of the blank.
4. Rough Machining Fix the forged blank on a CNC lathe, carry out rough turning on the outer circle, inner hole, end face and socket end, remove most of the machining allowance, and obtain a semi-finished product with approximate overall dimensions.
5. Socket Machining Process the socket part of the semi-finished product with precision machining tools, ensure the inner diameter, depth and chamfer size of the socket meet the matching requirements with the inserted pipe, and control the dimensional tolerance within the standard range.
6. Finishing Machining Perform finish turning on the key surfaces such as the sealing surface and connecting end face, optimize the surface roughness, and guarantee the assembly accuracy of the branch outlet.
7. Heat Treatment Implement

8. Surface Treatment Carry out pickling, passivation or sandblasting treatment on the product surface to form a protective layer, enhance corrosion resistance, and ensure the surface meets the stainless steel texture requirements.
9. Inspection and Testing Conduct comprehensive quality inspection, including dimensional measurement, socket fit test, pressure tightness test and non-destructive testing (NDT), to confirm all indicators comply with the technical specifications.
10. Marking and Packaging Mark the product model, specification, material grade and batch number on the qualified branch outlet, then carry out anti-rust treatment and standardized packaging for warehousing or delivery.
