Nickel alloy pipes are special pipe materials made by using nickel as the base and adding elements such as chromium, iron, molybdenum, and cobalt. With their excellent comprehensive performance, they have become the core material for pipeline systems under extreme conditions and are widely used in aerospace, energy and chemical industries, and marine engineering, etc.
1. Core features
High temperature corrosion resistance: Can operate stably for a long time in a temperature range of 600-1100℃. Its anti-oxidation and anti-sulfurization corrosion capabilities far exceed those of ordinary stainless steel, and it is suitable for high-temperature scenarios such as gas turbines and nuclear reactors.High strength and anti-fatigue: Tensile strength reaches 500-900 MPa, yield strength 300-600 MPa. It has excellent anti-warping and anti-fatigue performance, can withstand high-frequency vibration and alternating loads, and extends the service life of the pipeline.Resistance to strong corrosive media: Has extremely strong resistance to strong corrosive media such as hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and chloride ions. It is the preferred material for transporting corrosive fluids in chemical and marine environments.Low-temperature toughness: Maintains good toughness even at -196℃ liquid nitrogen environment, without the risk of low-temperature cracking, and is suitable for low-temperature storage and transportation, aerospace refrigeration, etc.Main classifications
2. By composition:
Nickel-chromium alloy (such as Inconel 600): Focuses on anti-oxidation and high-temperature corrosion resistance, used in heating furnaces and gas turbines.Nickel-molybdenum alloy (such as Hastelloy C-276): Resistant to strong acid and strong alkali corrosion, used in chemical reaction vessels and electroplating equipment.Nickel-cobalt alloy (such as Inconel 718): High strength and anti-fatigue, used in aerospace engines, rocket fuel pipelines.By form: Seamless pipes (with excellent pressure-bearing performance, used in high-pressure systems), welded pipes (low cost, used in low-pressure transportation), capillary tubes (high precision, used in precision instruments).
3. Typical application scenarios
Aerospace: Aviation engine combustion chambers, turbine blade cooling pipelines, rocket fuel transportation systems.Energy and chemical industry: High-temperature cracking pipelines in petroleum refining, nuclear reactor cooling circuits, chemical strong acid and strong alkali transportation equipment.Ocean engineering: Deep-sea oil and gas extraction pipelines, offshore platform anti-corrosion systems, seawater desalination devices.Medical research: High-temperature sterilization equipment pipelines, semiconductor manufacturing high-purity gas transportation systems.
Although nickel alloy pipes have a higher cost (about 3-5 times that of ordinary stainless steel), their extremely long service life (up to 20 years) and adaptability to extreme working conditions make them an indispensable key material in high-end industrial fields.
Select Inconel, Hastelloy and other nickel alloy rods/pieces. After acid washing, degreasing and ultrasonic flaw detection, remove the surface oxide layer and internal defects to ensure the purity and basic performance of the raw materials meet the standards.
2. Cold drawing / Hot extrusion forming:
Small-diameter pipes (Φ3 - Φ50mm): Utilize the cold drawing process, where the alloy bars are subjected to multiple precise drawing operations to gradually reduce the diameter and thin the wall thickness. The tolerance is controlled within ±0.02mm, enhancing the dimensional accuracy and surface finish.Large-diameter pipes (Φ50 - Φ500mm): Employ the hot extrusion process, where the alloy bars are heated to 1000 - 1100℃, extruded into pipe blanks through molds, and then annealed to eliminate processing stresses to prevent material cracking.
3. Heat treatment strengthening:
Solution treatment: Heat the pipe to 1050-1150℃ (adjust according to the alloy type), then quickly quench it in water to allow the alloy elements to fully dissolve, enhancing corrosion resistance and toughness.Ageing treatment (for precipitation hardening alloys such as Inconel 718): Perform staged ageing at 500-720℃, causing the formation of strengthening phases, and increasing the tensile strength to above 900 MPa, suitable for extreme load scenarios in aviation and aerospace.
4. Precision processing:
Turning/Milling: Perform high-precision turning on the pipe ends to create threads or flange interfaces. The tolerance is controlled within ±0.01mm, ensuring a perfect fit with the equipment.Polishing/Blasting: Use electrolytic polishing or mechanical blasting to remove surface micro-cracks and oxide layers, enhancing corrosion resistance and appearance. Some products need to achieve a mirror-like surface effect with Ra0.1μm.
5. Non-destructive Testing:
Utilize X-ray flaw detection (to identify internal pores and slag inclusions), ultrasonic testing (to detect wall thickness defects), and helium mass spectrometry leak detection (to detect tiny leaks). The pass rate reaches over 99.5%, eliminating potential safety hazards. 6. Surface treatment and packaging:Choose the appropriate treatment based on requirements, such as passivation (for stainless steel and nickel alloy), nickel plating (to enhance wear resistance), or vacuum coating (for special corrosive environments). Qualified products are packed in anti-rust vacuum packaging and stored in the warehouse. The production data can be traced throughout the process.
