Carbon Steel A105 introduction
ASTM A105 (UNS K03504) is carbon steel for piping forgings. It works within temperature from -29℃ to 425℃ with excellent forgeability and weldability. Commonly manufactured into Threadolet, Sockolet, hex bushing and other socket & threaded fittings.Normalized A105N is available. Widely used in steam, oil and natural gas pipeline projects, complying with ASME B16.11,MSS SP-97standards.
Half‑Threaded Hex Head Bolt Introduction
Half‑threaded hex head bolt (DIN 931 / GB/T 5782) is one of the most widely‑used industrial fasteners. It consists of a hexagonal driving head, smooth unthreaded shank and partial threaded section at one end. Different from fully‑threaded bolts, its middle shank keeps original bar diameter without threads, which delivers better shear resistance and mechanical stability under heavy load.It is normally manufactured from carbon steel or alloy steel, available in strength grades 8.8, 10.9 and 12.9. Common surface treatments include black oxide and zinc plating for anti‑corrosion purpose. Stainless‑steel versions (304, 316) are supplied for corrosive working environment.
During installation, the hex head transfers tightening torque with spanner or socket wrench. The smooth shank fits into mounting hole for good positioning, while the threaded end matches standard nuts to clamp workpieces tightly. This bolt type is extensively adopted for flange connections, mechanical equipment, pipeline assemblies and general structural fastening scenarios. It fits applications requiring high tensile strength, and is not recommended for thin‑plate fastening.

Hex Head Bolt Half‑Threaded Product Processing
1.Raw Material Inspection:Carbon steel or alloy steel wire rods / steel bars are checked for chemical composition and mechanical properties to meet grade requirements.
2.Cutting:Raw bars are cut to required bolt length, ensuring flat end face and accurate overall dimension.
3.Cold Heading:Material is cold‑forged by heading machine to form hexagonal bolt head, shaping the basic hex‑head profile in one forming process.
4.Heat Treatment (Quenching & Tempering):For high‑strength bolts of grade 8.8, 10.9, 12.9, quenching and tempering treatment is performed to obtain target hardness,tensile strength and toughness. Stainless‑steel bolts skip this heat‑treatment step.
5.Thread Rolling:Only partial section of the shank is rolled to form standard threads; the middle part remains smooth unthreaded shank. Thread tolerance complies with DIN, ISO or ASME specifications, remove burrs on thread crest.
6.Surface Treatment:Carbon & alloy steel options: black oxide or zinc plating for anti‑corrosion. Stainless steel options: pickling and passivation.
7.Deburring & Cleaning:Clear burrs, sharp edges and residual oil on bolt surface.
8.Final Inspection & Packing:Inspect dimensions, thread fit, hardness, head marking and surface condition. Reject non‑conforming goods. Qualified bolts are packed for delivery.
