A36 carbon‑steel round bars are received for incoming inspection.
Sampling chemical composition and hardness tests are performed. Raw materials that do not meet A36 standard requirements are rejected to guarantee basic tensile strength and weldability. 2. Cutting
Steel bars are cut into fixed‑length blanks. For straight
nipples, blanks have equal reserved diameter on both ends. For reducing nipples, one side reserves extra machining allowance for the smaller thread.
3. CNC Turning
Blanks are processed by CNC lathe. The middle hexagonal clamping surface, outer contour and end
faces are shaped precisely. Hex flats are machined flat to prevent wrench slipping during installation.
4. Thread Machining
Both ends are threaded with NPT or BSPP threads. Straight nipples adopt the same thread specification on two sides. Reducing nipples are machined into two different thread sizes. Thread tolerances are strictly controlled with thread gauges.
5. Deburring & Surface Treatment
All sharp burrs are removed. A36 carbon steel is easy to rust, so surface treatment such as hot‑dip galvanizing, electro‑galvanizing or black oxide is carried out to improve corrosion resistance. Bare finish without anti‑rust coating needs oil protection.
6. Optional Marking
Size information, material mark “A36” and brand logo can be stamped or laser marked on the hexagonal body as customer’s requirements.
7. Finished‑product Quality Check
Each nipple goes through dimension measurement, thread go‑no‑go test and visual inspection. Defective products with deformed threads or surface flaws will be eliminated.
8. Export Packing
Qualified parts are coated with anti‑rust oil, then packed properly to avoid scratches and rust during
long‑distance ocean transportation.
