A swage nipple is a forged pipe fitting used to connect pipes of two different diameters within small-bore piping systems.
.Overview and Purpose: Facilitates a smooth transition in pipe diameter over a short distance.
.Manufacturing Process: Produced from forged steel bars or billets, rather than fabricated from metal plate.
.Standards: Typically manufactured in accordance with the MSS SP-95 standard.
.Applications: Commonly used in high-pressure oil, gas, and petrochemical facilities for drain lines, vent lines, and instrument piping.
.Concentric vs. Eccentric Swage Nipples: Concentric swage nipples feature a symmetrical design with aligned centerlines; primarily used in vertical piping, they help maintain stable, symmetrical flow and minimize turbulence. Eccentric swage nipples feature an asymmetrical design with offset centerlines, maintaining a flat top or bottom alignment; primarily used in horizontal piping, this alignment prevents liquid accumulation, gas pockets, or fluid stagnation.
