Tungsten Carbide YG8 Introduction
Tungsten Carbide YG8 (WC‑8Co) is a sintered cemented carbide produced by powder metallurgy, consisting of approximately 92 wt% tungsten carbide as the hard phase and 8 wt% cobalt as the ductile binder, with trace grain‑growth inhibitors such as VC or Cr₃C₂ optionally added. Balancing hardness and impact toughness, it features a density of 14.5‑14.9 g/cm³, Vickers hardness (HV30) of 1400‑1850 HV, fracture toughness K₁c of 8‑12 MPa·m¹ᐟ² and transverse rupture strength ranging from 1500‑2500 MPa. Compliant with GB/T 18376 and equivalent to ISO K20‑K30, this grade is widely used for TCI tricone bit inserts, rock‑drilling tools, stamping dies, wear‑resistant components, as well as the machining of cast iron and non‑ferrous metals.
