Butt Welding Reducer Introduction
Butt-welded reducers (also known as large and small ends) are specialized connectors used at pipe diameter changes. They are welded to steel pipes through the butt-welding process to achieve the conversion between large-diameter and small-diameter pipes. On both ends of the basic classification of concentric reducer: the center line of the nozzle on the same line, mainly used in vertical or horizontal pipe at the center of the variable diameter.On both ends of the eccentric reducer: the center line of the nozzle is not a straight line, one side wall flush, commonly used in horizontal pipelines, can prevent the liquid accumulation (bottom flat installation) or gas accumulation (top).

End Beveling—machining standard butt-weld bevels at both ends using CNC equipment (such as pipe end beveling machines) to ensure proper fit-up gaps and weld penetration. Butt Welding—joining the fitting or connecting it to the pipeline using precision welding techniques like automatic argon arc welding or submerged arc welding to ensure sealing integrity and structural strength. Quality Inspection—conducting non-destructive testing (e.g., X-ray or ultrasonic inspection), dimensional measurements, and pressure testing to ensure compliance with standards such as ASME B16.9.
