The hex head plug is a solid one-piece external threaded pipe fitting. It features a standard hexagonal head for easy and stable installation and disassembly with common tools. It has precisely machined external threads and a flat solid end face, providing reliable sealing performance. This plug is widely used for the permanent or temporary blocking of pipe ports in general industrial piping systems, mechanical equipment and fluid transmission lines.

Machinability
Stainless steel grade UNS S20910 XM-19 has machinability characteristics that are similar to other austenitic stainless
steels;however it requires slower speeds, more power, and higher rigidity due to its high work hardening rate. It is recommended that coated carbide tooling be used.
Forming
Stainless steel grade UNS S20910 XM-19 can be formed using the same methods applied for other austenitic stainless steels. More power for forming and forging is needed for this alloy. Forging can be done at 1177-1204°C (2150-2200°F).
Welding
Welding of stainless steel grade UNS S20910 XM-19 can be performed using traditional joining processes. Recommended filler metal should be UNS S20910 XM-19 (AWS E/ER209).
Caution should be taken while using autogenous, high power density joining processes such as EB or laser welding, due to low FN potential and severe outgassing possibility.
Heat Treatment
Final annealing process performed for several of the applications, is done at 1065°C (1950°F), which is followed by water
quenching. In case this material is used in a strongly corrosive environment, annealing should be done at 1121°C (2050°F). This alloy cannot be hardened by heat treatment.

1. Material Blanking & Forging
High-quality metal bars are cut to fixed length and then precision-forged to form the basic solid blank of the hex head plug, ensuring compact internal structure and high mechanical strength.
2. Hexagon Head Forming
The head of the blank is pressed or milled into a standard regular hexagonal shape with sharp and uniform edges, forming a standard wrench driving position for easy installation.
3. CNC Turning
The blank is clamped on a CNC lathe for precision machining. The cylindrical body is turned to the specified outer diameter, and a smooth, flat top surface is formed to ensure dimensional accuracy.
4. Thread Rolling / Thread CuttingHigh-precision external threads are processed on the cylindrical part by thread rolling or cutting. The threads are full, uniform and well-fitted, ensuring good sealing and connection performance.
5. Deburring & CleaningAll sharp edges, burrs and machining chips are removed. The product is cleaned to eliminate oil stains and impurities, keeping the surface smooth and clean.
6. Surface TreatmentThe finished semi-product undergoes surface treatment to improve rust resistance and durability, with a clean and uniform appearance, free of rust and defects.
7. Inspection & PackagingEach plug is inspected for dimensions, thread accuracy and appearance. Qualified products are sorted and packaged for storage and delivery.
